Johnson Reserve Eel Trip

  Hi everyone,

Today Green Bubble (Room 4 and Room 6 pupils) and their teachers walked to Johnson Reserve to look at and feed the eels. We learned that they are native to Aotearoa New Zealand and are protected from people and other animals that try to harm them or eat them.

After that, we walked back to school and made a plan for writing a recount of our trip and then spent a little time writing a story about it.

Here is a photo of one of our pupils observing the group of eels.

Chalk and Black Paper 'Destruction' Art

 Hi Everyone,

This week Green Bubble made chalk and black paper art. The theme was 'Destruction'. We learned a little about World War II and how the city of London in the United Kingdom was bombed by the Nazi German Airforce.

Thank you very much Miss. White for the lesson!

Tapa Cloth Art

 Talofa Lava everyone,

Yesterday, Green Bubble learnt about tapa cloth design and pattern print making. We began by looking at traditional tapa designs and motifs. Then we drew our own designs on white paper. After that, we copied them onto brown paper, used vivid as ink, and finally, scrunched and punched our paper into a soft, smooth cloth!

This what they look like together!

Thank you very much to Ms Potter for the lesson.

Bubble School - Art

Hello Everyone,

To start our Green Bubble School off we read, wrote about, and observed strawberries. We learned about how you grow them, protect them from garden insects and what they need in order to be ripe to pick.

Then, we all painted a strawberry watercolour picture. This is one painted by our fantastic Teacher's Aide, Ms Gerry.

AFL (Aussie Rules Football Kiwikick Programme)

Last Wednesday, Room 4 took part in the first ever Aussie Rules Football Kiwikick programme at Panmure Bridge School. We started by learning the correct way to hold, pass and kick an 'Aussie' football. Next, we got to practise these skills, which are similar to rugby. We thought the morning was super fun and lots of us have joined up to play the sport this term. Check out these photos of us!

'All About Me' - Statistics in Room 4

To begin Term 1 Mr. Goodin needed to get to know Room 4, what they like and don't like, sports they play and food they like to eat. Together, after a discussion, we investigated Room 4's favourite fruit and sport. The results were very surprising!

Room 4's Warm and Cool Colour Art

Room 4 has been learning about how the colour wheel is divided into warm and cool colours. We found out that, generally, warm colours are red, yellow, and orange. Cool colours are blue, green, and purple. We all drew a picture of a 'hot' sun and 'cool' ocean with pastels to show the difference in 'temperature'. We all had a lot of fun!
